LET READERS DECIDE

The characters in "Bohemians" were rounded, dynamic, and sympathetic. The tone of Saunders's writing gave me hints as to which characters were trustworthy and which were deserving of my suspicion. But each character was presented with full humanity, allowing me to choose who to root for, instead of being steered down a one-way road with the author in the driver's seat.

Saunders constantly reminds us that people are multi-dimensional - even in fiction. Most people deserve the benefit of the doubt, like Mrs. Poltoi.

Stories hold weight: if you believe it's possible to figure someone out within one paragraph of knowing them, your readers probably will too.

Saunders presents evidence, and allows readers to draw their own conclusions. Fox, take notes.
